That was one of the headlines that caught my eyes yesterday. details ...

 

I was just thinking the other day how involved and complicated raising a child can be from pregnancy, delivery to childcare.  Just the delivery alone involved a gynae, an anaesthetian, a paediatrician, a paediatric surgeon and God knows how many medical staff. My husband and i just spent over 9K to have all these people making sure our baby delivered safely,  but here we have people who just threw the helpless child out of the window.  This is probably a situation which is beyond my understanding.... it is heart breaking.

During my more naive days many years back, I fell for a multi level marketing scam which had me "invested" USD125.  Shortly after joining it, I realised I wasn't going to get anything back and was ready to just say good bye to my hard earned cash.. and I never wanted to look back.  Three years ago, I received an email which informed me that I was eligible to receive redress compensation for monies I paid, all I had to do was to fill up an online form and claim it.  Apparently, the company (skybiz.com) was charged with running an illegal Pyramid Scheme by the US Federal Trade Commission.  The court case ended with a settlement in 2003.

 

I was never sure if I'll ever really get the money back cos it took so long but a week ago, I finally received the compensation in my bank account... I was amazed.  Although the money wasn't the original amout due to exchange rate (at that time RM was still pegged at 3.8) and the processing fee of having it wired over etc. I am happy I recovered some of the money and that justice has been done.

 

Moral of the story:

When you fall victim to a scam, it helps that the program is based where there is a strong trade commission or consumer bureau... which protect your interests.

They are brothers. The left is a picture of Ryan when he was a few days old. The right was taken a few days ago when Hans was a few days old.

The left was taken with my IXUS the right with my SONY Ericsson phone hence the difference in sharpness. 

 

Yes, the baby is borned.  He came out earlier than we expected.  Original planned C-section date was 3rd Oct... when we did our final check up on Saturday, the scan showed that the baby weight was only 2.2kg which was quite small, we worried that the baby could be a bit premature so we decided to move it back for a week to allow him develop a bit more.  But 1st Oct monday morning, I experienced some bleeding, it was just minor bleeding so I ignored it and went to work (my final day at the project to hand over some work before going off for maternity break so I can deliver in peace)... at night I experienced contraction but couldn't tell if it was labor contraction, we decided to wait a while... Tues morning, bleeding continues and I knew it was show, went to hospital and doctor confirmed that it's time to deliver.  An emergency C-section was immediately scheduled for the afternoon, the baby came out at around 3pm on the 2nd Oct 2007, weight 2.53kg.

 

We haven't quite confirmed on the name, but mostly it will be Hans Lim Sheng Hui.  So if anyone has any objection, please say now or forever hold your peace.
